Do You Love Me?
This is a chance we seldom get.
A time when we are alone.
A time where everything is at peace and we are admiring the beauty around us.
And as we lay on the same grass we lay on in our dreams,
I turn my head to face yours.
And you turn yours to face mine.
At first we just stare at each other,
observing the different features of our faces.
But then an urge grows in me.
One that I've felt before, but just ignored because I was too scared of the outcome of it finding a way to make a sound.
Today though, it will have its way.
I inhale to cool my body before I ask my question.
I open my mouth and the words flow out like water.
“Do you love me?” I ask.
You were surprised.
You didn’t know what to say in return.
We had often told each other that we liked each other very much,
But never had we considered love.
And now that the question is asked,
an answer is needed.
You pause.
You give the question thought.
You answer.
“Yes. I love you.”
