All Seasons
Winter
Encroaching in the form of
Ice crystals on the window
Green, lush evergreen trees
Twinkling with beautiful lights
The warmth of the holiday menorah
Fuzzy red stockings hung from the fireplace
Candlelight quivering by the window
Melting the colorful wax beneath it
Hot chocolate, snowmen, crisp winter ice
Snow days and warmth
Beauty raining down
Twinkling, catching the cold sunlight
Dark, icy, blizzard nights
Icicles hanging like fangs from the rooftop
Slowly drip into
Spring
Melting snow
Green peaking out
Crocuses singing to be heard
Melodies of cherry blossoms and forsythia
Grass shoots up
Flowery fragrance
Wandering through the sunshine
Easter eggs, candy baskets
Passover Saders, salty eggs and bitter herbs
Rain slipping down
Turning the world
Into the vibrant emerald greenness of
Summer
Bare feet running
To the tune of an Indian drum
Through spiny marsh grass
Freedom runs in the hills
Red sunset blazes through the sky
Fireworks shoot across the stars
Inspiration rides on the hull of a boat
Crashing between the deep navy-black waters
Sunflowers peaking up
Hot sun burning grass to brown
The little chill bites the air
Autumn
Arrives in robes of gold, yellow, bronze, red
Leaves patter down
Distinct cinnamon and pumpkin scents
Halloween and birthdays fly by
Walking home in sweaters and jeans
Shivering in the late fall breeze
Leaves skitter across the pavement
Gourds and apples are picked
The harvest moon rises, looming above the horizon
Sending a cool chill into the air
That can only bode
Winter
Again
Seasons cycle by
Difficult, painful, exquisite, lovely
Bringing with them
Unique experiences
Memorable tastes, sights, touches
Seasons continue eternally
Until the tomb of death
Stops all motion.
