The Regret
I should have said it.
The opportunity was there.
I should have seen it,
taken it,
run with it.
Maybe if I had,
I'd be able to sleep tonight.
Instead, I toss under my covers,
watching the scene replay itself
again and again.
Showing me my mistake,
again and again.
Showing me his patient eyes,
watching,
waiting for those words.
Those three simple words
that could have changed everything -
"Make it decaf."
