Mi amour
Soft, shallow breaths weave
in and out of my ribcage,
stealing the thunder from our sky.
But with you, I don’t have to try;
to smile, to laugh, to be anyone other than me.
You’re brilliant mind shapes my universe
And if it hasn’t begun,
It won’t be long, until I am wrapped inside you.
Winter has yet to touch our skin
As we fall into the eyes of one another;
Drinking in each emotion
As if our blood depends on each and every word.
I could’ve called him mine,
But a voice told me, “not yet”.
I almost didn’t cry.
I felt your heart tickle my veins
And then I felt your hand;
Believing in the magic I could never discern
Behind eyes of such a fear.
I could’ve stayed away from the unknown,
But something kept me here,
Close to tears.
Mi amour;
an immaculate wonder.
