I stood tall even with my head held low
I walked with pride even though I was not proud
I tried to love even though my heart was closed
And spoke with dignity even though I was not loud

I had manners even though I had no self respect
I loved even though I had none I could recall
But now I’m standing up and taking myself back
Because I haven’t been defeated, no not at all

I’m going to walk with my chin up
Stand tall with my head held high
Open my heart and love freely
And speak with not so much as a sigh

I know it’s going to take a lot to get there
And for this I cannot be seated
Because I am and will definitely remain
A young woman not defeated

I found this inspiring as well.

One small critique, I think the last line of the second stanza would flow better if it was "Because I haven't been defeated, not at all" instead of having the "no not at all".
