Sitting
By your
Side
As you
Died,
The whole night
I cried.
It was too late,
far too late,
it was taking away you life
taking over your body.
Slowly
Slowly
You passed away.
Tomorrow was to be your last,
Today,
Your short existence,
To be yesterday.
You were to be brought
To the place you’d been,
So many times before,
When you were young
So young,
So high-strung,
So full of life.
They’d take you into the room
Give you a
Shot
Like you’d had
So many times before.
But this one,
This one,
Instead of life,
Longevity,
Would bring an end to it all
The pain
The hurt
Your life,
And bring you
Gently
Gently
Into eternal sleep.
Sitting
By your
Side
As you
Died,
The whole night
I cried.
