Favorite Quote:
“God, of your goodness, give me yourself; you are enough for me, and anything less that I could ask for would not do you full honour. And if I ask anything that is less, I shall always lack something, but in you alone I have everything”

A rainbow of colorful glass adorns the huge orb,
It reflects the joy of the past year,
Like a movie screen, the mirrors play back triumphs and successes,
As it drops, hope soars,
Hope for a future framed by happiness,
Another cheerful chapter waiting to be read.
She stands on the frigid pavement, unrecognized in the masses,
Eyes glued on her still-plunging dreams,
His hand wrapped around hers as they face the new year together.

Harsh mirrors cover the massive sphere,
It emulates the tragedy of the past year,
Like a recurring nightmare, it relives the previous pain and sorrow,
As it drops, so does her heart,
She stands on the icy street, blending in with the crowd.
A tear rolls down her cheek as she dreads the obstacles ahead,
She flinches as the clock strikes twelve and the others lean in,
Even on the eve of new beginnings,
She’s lonelier than she’s ever been.

This was just something I came up with when watching the ball drop on New Years. Everyone looks so happy on TV, but they wouldn't show anyone who wasn't far-too-cheery. This is a poem about both sides of facing a new beginning. One is of fear and dread, while the other is of excitement. Hope you like it!
