Twisted
Silently we battle for the ones who whisper to our heart,
and hushed voices speak to our illusions.
Yet we lay here feeding our misconceptions with lies
to hide the burns and leave time to heal our contusions.
So we ice these stitches with a perilous suffering
and we cover these tracks with someone else's.
Then we pick up the stakes and risk everything
to reinforce the slaying of our well being.
And yet we trudge on gluing masks as we go,
adhering lines to memory and eradicating loose ends.
Not having the correct manifestation to show
that this is not the only way to defend.
So keep up the pace, pick it up if you must.
Yes, this is the behavior of our lives,
yes this is the one in which we have strived,
but it is not one that I would recommend.
