Why Did You Have To Go?
The moon is dancing at my window tonight. Oh, how beautiful indeed.
I’m starting to think of your warm smile, and how I am missing thee.
You were here, and gone. Like a shadow of the night.
I miss your safe hugs, oh that is true.
Although when I think back on my life, of all things, I think of you.
The night is fading fast. The sun awakening the world,
The way you used to hold me, and say I was your best girl.
Now it is all over, as over as it can be.
So as I lay here tonight I hope you think of me.
Do you look down upon me, with your wings and halo, so true?
Do you whisper softly in my ear?
I wonder tonight where you are.
In Heaven, with God, I presume.
Turns out every night all I do is lay here and think of you.
I miss you dearly, my love.
I wonder, so you miss me too?
Autumn days have passed since then, and now I whisper to you.
“I love you with all my heart, as much as the sky is blue.
Stay with me tonight; cradle me in your arms.
Shush my fears and make me believe it will be fine.
Oh, do I wish you were here, but truly you weren’t mine.
You belong to the man, the man within the sky.”
