Perfect
Waking up an hour early,
But not to watch the dawn,
Going through some gaudy looks,
Spending fifteen minutes on each one
Locked up in the bathroom,
Putting on a layered mask,
That conceals all the flaws,
Completely covering my face
Foundation in bronzed colors,
To change the pale skin I hate,
Eye shadow in dark pigment,
To hide how my expressions change
The pressure is on this instant,
To be the best that I can be,
To appear so put together,
No one else can pick on me
Sauntering out the door so carefully,
Holding my head up to the sky,
Sticks and stones can break my bones,
But I do this to be perfect
