Back To Love
His heart beats, but with inconsistency
Fear pulses through his thin veins
And lies drip from his perfect lips
His determined hands calloused and scarred
The alluring eyes, shadowed by doubt
A sharp silver tongue behind the sultry smile
The strong, welcoming arms, cold and hard
And his shoulders are hunched and drawn
From the weight of deception and secrets
And his arms
His open arms that
Embrace you, protect you
Hold you so tight that when you come away
Your breath is lost; your head is light, body sore
Disoriented and confused
Yet you can’t help but want to go back
Back to the pain, the grief, the humiliation
Back to love
