Big City Dreams
stars on my bedroom ceiling
because the big city lights overwhelm the smaller ones high in the sky.
a diminished beauty naturally born and unnaturally cast aside.
no more stars shooting across the night sky
just a plane on its way back to port.
our dreams don't come true because we cast them on false prophets.
but one day i will find the darkest hill on the darkest night way up high
and only then will my many wishes be heard
and then all that's left is to be patient
waiting for them to come true.
