The Worst Prank
Listen to
The sound of rain
Pitter pattering on the pane
Of a window
On the sill
When you have no other will
Read a page
Of the story
Of a wonderful, kind glory
Of a lady
And her mate
Who meet up on their first date.
Singing to
The tapping toes
Of the students in their rows
As they learn
To write a song
And try to work all along
Look around
At the class
As they try to finish fast
To get it done
All at once
So they can go have some fun
Smile at
The time that’s left
And know that they won’t do their best
So they can leave
And ask their mom’s
To help them with their stupid song
Cough into
A microphone
And tell them that they can’t go home
And they have to
Stay all night
To get their song just right
Laughing at
The astonished faces
Of the different children races
As they think
That you’re uncool
And you just say “April Fools.”
