Manners
“They distinct us from animals”
People say
I just shake my head
“Why are we better?”
A little girl asks me.
I don’t know
What to answer
“ ‘Cause we’re clever”
A voice in my head echoes
But I close my mouth.
“ ‘Cause we have feelings”
But I just stay still
As I remember against my will
Our story of bloody violence
And endless intrigues.
I look at her eyes
Tears in mine
And I hear the truth
Coming out of my mouth:
“I don’t know.”
