Pen on Paper
The writer who holds the pen
Is an artist for he paints
Delicious pictures with scrumptious words
Which the mind hungrily devours;
His mind, hand, and pen are one.
The pen, enjoying his work
Glides gracefully like a skater on ice;
His ink freely flowing throughout his body
Making him warm to touch
Like a perfectly heated cup of coffee.
The ink is then pouring onto the page
Making fancy markings
On the dry flat parchment;
Yearning for attention and
Praying to be read.
The reader glances, and then is captured by
The fluid characters of ink
Flowing across the page;
The eye races to catch up
To the beautiful dancing letters.
The document will last throughout history,
And will soon be forgotten,
But the faithful ink cannot be erased and will not fade
For it has hope that the day will come
When it is read once more.
