Don't Compare Me
"Don't compare me!" is all you seem to say,
Or rather, all I seem to hear, because I've stopped listening.
I'm stuck in an imaginary world, One where he's you, and you're him.
My vision is blurred by the lies that I refuse to let go of.
Lies that keep me sane.
Lies that help me sleep at night, knowing that I'll see him when I wake.
It gets easier with time,
remembering the exact way his hair curls,
and how it falls around his face.
It gets easier making you look like him.
You keep complaining that I always compare you to him,
But I just smile, because that's exactly how he looks when he gets angry.
You know, you and him aren't that different...
Same eyes, same noes, same lengthy fingers
same smile... same jolt of electricity when we touch.
This makes it easier to forget about you.
This makes it easier to just see the him in you.
But some things still gotta change,
Like the fact that your designer clothes would never pass off as something he'd wear.
...Or the fact that your older sister's still alive,
when his died seven years ago.
I'll take care of those things.
I promise I will,
Because no matter what...
I can't stop comparing you to him.
