Slipping Hands
Your hands grip so tight
They turn white
You’re holding on as hard
As you can,
You start to break a sweat
“hold on—just hold on” they tell you
Do you really want to do this?
“hold on—just hold on” you hear it again
Constantly repeating in your head
A tear rolls down your cheek
You didn’t think this would happen
So badly you want to look up
And see all their faces again
But you can’t
Maybe it’s for the best
The wind is getting stronger,
And your arms are getting weaker
Everyone’s getting weaker
So you let go.
