Mysteries
Only by the light of the moon and the stars in a dream
am I shown for what I really am
A ghost of glory lost in the battles before time began
On earth, anyway.
A shimmer
a glint that perhaps
wasn’t really there
Imagination explains away the flash
but I’m watching and hearing the false accusations
How dare they suggest knowledge of the unknown!
For I am she who is unknowable,
and I am also she who is inconceivable
and I am she who is beyond imagination as well-
hence, my indignation.
Silly mice and men
pretending to believe understanding.
How satisfying to watch the best laid plans go awry
On earth, anyway.
Define me - I dare you.
Try and try and
Fail
Fail
Fail fail fail.
Ha ha!
How could you define an image of the most
perfect
confused
flawed
brilliant
hesitant
confident
air-borne
glowing
shadowy
frightening
frightened
alien…
unknown to Boys and Mice and Men.
Did I scare you? Give up? Thought so.
They always expect to crack the code, and are always so disappointed when it turns out that there aren’t any more Rosetta Stones.
Who could read the pages of my thoughts without falling on the floor in terror and ecstasy?
Not even I can do that.
I’ll give you a hint. My dog gets me.
(He is the only one.)
Mostly, anyway.
Still don’t know what I am, do you?
I am seventeen.
Surprised?
So was I.
