“Innocence is always unsuspicious.”
She is in there. The little girl I once was.
She never knew a stranger.
Loved the world and everything in it.
Now..
Now..
Where has she gone?
Is she cringing under the blanket of make-up I wear?
As she listens to the growls of the carnivore that is my mind
Is she crouching behind the twisted lump of what passes for my heart?
Or is she cowering in fear, trapped in my faithless mind?
She must be terrified in there..
It’s the playground for all my demons and monsters.
The sun doesn’t shine through my darkness
The world enshrouded in my dusty soul…
One day she will be liberated
When all my suspicions have been abated
And I can love life again
Then, my innocence can return.

Innocence is something that is very easily lost. But it is something we can all regain. While its not easy it is possible. New to poetry so please give feedback and i will return the favor if you would like
