The Saturday Night Bar Scene
This Saturday night bar scene
usual as ever, the late night
drinkers, coffee sippers and
smokers stand and sit in their
little clusters, within the foggy room.
The bar staff, ever smiling,
trying to please their clientele,
cold pints, hot food, sweet music,
the singer, slightly off key, trying
to keep the night swinging, unfortunately.
The man in the corner, drifting,
slowly into slumber, alone
for one more night, regardless
of those around hI'm, the pint
warm, the food cold, the man warn.
So the song ends, the awkward clapping
smile filled face, exit stage right,
the next guy up is new to the
Saturday night bar scene, hI'm and
his girl. Up on stage for a song.
They sit, he smiles and welcomes
everyone to listen for awhile,
returned by shuffling and scoffs.
The unknown duo being reminded
of the crowds standards of music
She starts, hit a high note,
leading hI'm in, matching,
lifting each other, telling
the story of their travels,
hardships and refusal of glory
Her solo breaks the verse,
with everyone hanging on,
waiting for the end. Filled
with emotions that had been
long since forgotten and abandoned.
They come together for one
last tI'me and finished on
his last word. Silence flooded
the bar, his lyrics fresh in
their minds. They Clap.
His bows and she leaves
with hI'm. The women ask
his name, about his life,
a lady or a wife, he smiles
"I've got grace and I'm filled".
The women shrug off, leaving
hI'm to her, his Grace.
The one to never leave hI'm.
They were together though the rough
starts, and will last to the last note.
