Lullaby
If you sang her a lullaby
She would hum along, out of tune
If you gave her a hug
She'd lean on your should until all else stopped
Tell her when you're in pain
So she can heal your heart
But most of all, sing her a lullaby
So she can realize she's still alive
She won't speak to you
She is mute with the silence of her own tears
Tears shed for him and all his sins
Sing to her a lullaby, and she'll give you a surprise
A wide grin will cross her face
She is the epitome of grace
In every word that she has never spoken
She articulates the words of angels
Her halo brightens with the sound of a lullaby
For her ears can hear the sound of a beating heart
She will give you her own
Since she no longer believes in herself being half or whole
Just of a lullaby sung out of love
Touch her cheek to feel the warmth of an angel whose lost her way
She just gives now but doesn't see the need to take
Except perhaps a lullaby
So she can feel something deep inside
