A Dark in the Candle
We’ve heard the saying, “A candle in the dark,”
And it means a beacon of hope,
Iin something dark.
But what about this one little candle, who is in a room of light,
But is dark?
Perfect, people would say,
About this candle.
Perfectly round,
Perfectly shaped,
Perfectly long wick,
Perfectly colored,
Perfectly scented.
But they don’t ever notice the wick.
Why do people never realize,
Sometimes the wick is dark?
The candle may be white, pure, strong, happy, jovial.
But the wick, the heart of the candle, is black.
Maybe that wick will be hidden among the perfect wax.
Maybe that wick will be scrunched up on the inside of the candle, so you have to dig your hands,
Scoop
The wax out of the candle, to reach the wick. Maybe you’ll have to search for a long time.
But in the end, that wick is black.
Hidden among the outer illusion of joy,
Is the black wick. The heart.
Why do you not see?
