To Have Won
And you
Wrote
Like
This.
And I think it just about broke my
Heart.
To think of what I had
Thrown away
The girl held up a
White flag
On the way home.
It made me feel
Like my heart
Had finally
Surrendered.
To just give in,
Would be peaceful
But to just give in
Means I have to give you up.
And giving you up
Gives me a lump in my throat
Like a crumpled piece of
Paper
Tossed away
Out of the window.
No, I couldn’t do that.
I can’t live that.
So I sit,
With my hands hidden away in my lap
And think
About how nice it would have been
To have finally
Won.
