Gone...
Gone
Gone like a rose in the winter chill;
Its petals slowly crumpling
Until they fall
One by one
Gone
Gone like a sunset;
Sinking past the horizon
Like butter as it melts
On a piece of toast
Gone
Gone like your footprints in the sand;
Washed away by the waves
As they engulf what’s left
Little by little
Gone
Gone like a rainbow after the rain;
Vanishing from its place in the clouds
As darkness approaches
And the sunlight slowly fades away
Gone
Gone like the gentle whispers of the wind;
As they carry their messages
Through the trees
And from flower to flower
Gone
Gone like a heartbeat;
Its rhythm dying
Like the sound of footsteps
Echoing down a dark hallway
Gone
Gone like a puddle of water;
Evaporating at the touch
Of a ray of sunlight
Sending it to the sky
Gone
Gone like a diamond;
Tossed into the sea
Where it settles to the bottom
To await what should come
Gone
Gone like a tear;
Quickly brushed away
Before it reveals
What’s underneath
Gone
Gone like the tranquil lull of a spring day;
Lasting for only as long as
We have patience for
Until we change what can’t be changed
Gone
Gone like star;
Burning out in time
Leaving only comets
To plummet to their fate
Gone
Gone like a moment;
Leaving as quickly as it came
Wasted by the ones who don’t treasure
What really matters
Gone…forever
