You Never Knew
I used to love you
you’re soft hair
the light from your dark brown eyes
seemed to outshine the sun
I used to love you
The way you could smile
and delight me
The singular act
that would make sky blue
butterflies
flit through my stomach
I walk through the eternity
in my mind
when I thought about you
one hundred times a day
When I looked at you
I knew the secrets of the world
And now I realize
there is no more love to be loved
No more of my heart that I can bear
to give to you
I’ve spent these years
wondering how it is possible to love a person
as much as I love you
You never knew
