Not Even One Poetic Thought?
restless heart.
aching mind.
i close my eyes,
to reveal the secretaries behind their desks.
they search filing cabinets,
with the labels from A-Z.
they notice my dissatisfaction.
the neat little piles of paperwork go flying.
the alphabetical organization is soon forgotten.
all the little workers, running around now,
with a forgotten cause.
they flail their arms around now,
a purpose abandoned.
its madness. its chaos,
inside this mind.
there's letters, words,
none of them are right.
this has never happened to me,
this lack of words.
I'm at a loss.
i ask them frantically, the little workers inside my mind,
no similes, metaphors, personification, irony?
not even one deep connection, reconciliation,
nothing to inspire, no misleading, or any understanding?
not even one poetic thought?
i said with no emotion.
and they had no reply for me.
