Hold to your own
Hold to your own
The sadness of the moment seeps into
Your every thought, clawing at your emotions,
Then breaking you down,
Unrelenting, and you force a smile
Through all of the pain, harsh words, and blurry decisions.
Each fight and argument, drifts them away.
Each year you glow older, so do they
And it comes time when their chins are
Held high, their grip on life is strong,
And they leave you behind.
One moment they are there, and the next swallowed by their
Curiosity of the world.
You refuse to be weakened by the
Sudden change,
Standing your ground, fists clenched tight.
You try and hold onto the broken knots, feeling them slip away.
You don’t show your sadness,
And you face fear head on,
Strong, confident, and renewed.
Head up, positive attitude.
No one knows the pain you are in,
For you are known for being able to hide it.
Everyone thinks you are fine, and continues to joke with you.
Seen as positive and content, you can barely hide the sadness now.
