Crossing the street
Unnoticed hands reach
For the contents of a pocket
People rush by
On life's busy schedule
Not bothering to notice
One of life's common scandals
Child safely across
No one needs rescue
Except the young man
Whose heart was too open
Whose eyes were too kind
Who was too busy
Protecting the child
