That Girl
I am that girl.
The one with the fake smile permanently plastered onto her face,
The one who makes sure she only cries when she’s alone,
The one whose friends don’t know,
Don’t know her true personality,
Real thoughts and feelings.
I am that girl.
The girl who is her own best friend,
Who likes being alone.
The girl who lost the ability to trust years ago,
But no matter how much she fights it,
She is always lured in by the promise of friendship.
I am that girl.
The girl who likes a guy but won’t tell him because she’s terrified of his answer,
Who everyone avoids because of her social awkwardness,
Who only fits in with guys.
I am that girl.
The girl who never admits her true feelings for fear of rejection,
Who was once popular,
The one who became alienated for protecting those bullied,
Who became the victim herself.
I am that girl.
The girl who considered suicide,
Believing the pain hurt too much to keep living,
The girl who has
Clinical depression,
ADHD,
And is your stereotypical nerd.
I am that girl.
The girl who decided not to take it anymore,
Whose confidence grew,
Who defends the weak,
Who is not ashamed to hang with the guys.
I am that girl.
The girl who can’t stand girls cattiness,
Who would rather do half-pipes than go to the mall,
Who nobody can believe is the same person as she was three years ago,
The girl who all the guys like,
The one all of the other girls are jealous of,
Who walks with her head held high.
I am that girl.
