Love Poem to Free Association MAG
A pencil in hand, I try to discuss the differing uses of Ser and Estar
But you tease me,
throw the paper in my face,
Then show me how much more
the world can be.
You’re so much fun to be around,
Because you don’t follow the normal progression
of thought,
Instead, preferring to choose a different path,
You amble along at the speed of light,
pulling me with you
away from orthodoxy, the straight-line
philosophy
and into unbelievable, all over the map.
Though some may stare in disapproval
at our tangential state of being,
Every night I say a silent thank you to
Freud –
Because of him, I’ve got a name
And a method to this brilliant madness.
You conduct my thoughts in a whirlwind,
and make simple existence a fantastical
dream,
An unbearable yet breathtaking venture
into everything that catches
our sparkling eyes.
