Sympathy
I cried,
I whimpered,
I wept,
While
Cool tears
Burned my cheeks
As they slowly
Skated across my face
Hard, cruel sobs,
Strangled me
As I tried too hard
To swallow my grief.
Merciless Misery
Attacked my brain
Armed with truth and guilt
A symphony
Of “what’s happened” and “are you okay’s”
Swallowed me
Quickly choking
The last of my breath
Don’t they see
I don’t want sympathy
I don’t want
Smothering hugs
I don’t want
pseudo-caring words
I WANT
The heartache,
The anguish,
To
Disappear
