Distance
You say it’s the miles, but I know it is something more.
Miles are just space.
Miles are just long stretches of pavement,
Miles,
I can handle.
But you,
You my dear,
Are distant.
You are drifting farther and farther away from me,
And I am trying to reel you back in,
But you just keep drifting.
There are days when I feel as if you have started to come back,
Days when you feel closer,
But you always hop back into place,
And drift farther
And farther away,
Until you are gone for good
