To My Family
“To my family” the note starts
Tears rolling down their redden eyes
I watch as they read the strategically placed notes
With every passing word “It’s not your fault…” my mom’s face crumbles into her hands
The terrifying words forever burned into her mind
The note is the only piece of her baby she has left
I watch from above as she sets the note back down
She leaves my now forever lifeless bedroom
And collapses in the hallway next to my father
“I’m sorry it had to end this way, but life is better without me in it…” over and over those horrific words playing in her head like a broken record
Even though it kills me to see her upset but everyone is better off this way…
Including me
