The 'L' Words
Love starts with an ‘l’.
But so does lust.
It is too easy to get the two confused
So many think they’re the same thing.
He thought it was love.
Every night spent in the bed
Every day my parents weren’t home
Every time, that was not love.
Love opens your heart and you can hear the birds singing everywhere you go.
Lust rips out your heart and lays it out beside you.
You start to notice the dark circles under your eyes,
The way you don’t care how your hair is anymore.
All you remember is how last night happened.
His touches give you chills, and his kisses burn your body.
He doesn’t look you in the eyes the way he would had it been love.
Lust haunts you forever.
And ever.
