Escapist
I sit out in the garden
With a blanket under me
My dolls all smile affectionately
As I offer them some tea.
I catch up with the flowers
As they speak of their affairs
A fountain bubbles musically
The wind pulling at my hair.
I read aloud my books to them
Of adventures we all love
Until I lie back to look
At the clouds drifting over head.
Peeking over the tall grass
I see my mother waving
Calling me back into the world
From which I was escaping.
