Geminids
I like to think we were a meteor
hurtling across the universe a thousand times too fast.
So caught up in the rush that
we burned up our time
smashing holes in the atmosphere.
We were a force of nature to be reckoned with.
Temperamental and
testy.
We were broken.
Searching for solace in sadness,
as if we could pull the fragments
back together.
We scattered across the face of the earth,
separated by oceans and continents
and plagued by memories of an infinite universe
and our limitless power.
But on the way down,
we had time to whisper last words-
the kind that stay with you forever.
So that everywhere we fell,
we sowed seeds of hope.
We were given the chance to begin again,
to change lives,
to make someone smile.
And we took all of those chances,
with nothing but love in our hearts
and our eyes eternally fixed on the stars.
