Grazing its Opposite
You don't know this,
but lying naked in your arms
was my finest moment.
And I can't imagine
not having a key,
Only reliving such moments in dreams
Nowhere to run to.
I ask for you in my wordless prayers,
Kneeling on hard concrete
Each finger grazing its opposite
Solemnly pleading with a god I deny.
You're still
not okay and I still
can't fix you,
Your picture lays in pieces
on my bedroom floor.
It's much more
painful, unlocking
than locking. Walls
crumbling at my feet,
An open gate
pain penetrates,
Our cuticles brush,
Wrists handcuffed,
my veins entwine
with yours,
knotted and tied,
and there’s nothing
beneath your skin,
nothing inside your ribcage
that isn’t mine.
