Ghosts
I went to Heaven
I saw the ghosts.
We hugged each other
and never wanted to let go.
We saw our relatives,
long since dead
and we expected them to have no skin
except they did have skin
and eyes and smiles too.
And how you smiled
as I grabbed your hand.
Oh how I've missed you
I can't begin to tell you,
tears poured out of these tearful eyes
that have longed to set themselves
on your living body,
dancing in the sunshine.
I went to Heaven
I saw the angels.
They danced and sang with me,
I tried to hold their hand-
except I couldn't.
I tried to your hold yours
except God wouldn't let me.
I tried to talk to you
but everyone told me you weren't
there.
but I see you right here.
I went up the steps to Heaven.
I thought they'd be difficult to find
except they weren't.
I just followed the ghosts.
