Love and Pain

Hearts
Can be broken so easily.
And you keep trying to mend it,
Keep trying to put it in others again,
Because you call it love.
Yet,
As I watch you,
All I see is pain.
If love is pain,
I don’t want it.
I don’t need it.
It’s not like I’m going to
Verify my existence by killing
Or anything like that.
So don’t try to give me pain,
Because it’ll hurt too much.
Don’t try to give me love,
Because I’ll forget
How the one flicker
Of happiness
Just changes
To pain.
