Shouting
When I put on my jacket I did not know
That it would become an invisibility cloak.
People walk past and don’t even look,
Don’t even notice I’m right there.
I’m shut up in a dark room,
Crouching in the corner,
Waiting.
Waiting to be noticed,
To be seen.
“Look at me! I’m right here!
Please! Acknowledge that I exist!”
You want to shout,
To yell,
To scream.
Will anyone turn?
Will anyone notice?
You are left to wonder.
Who knows how long you will stand in the dark room,
Shouting,
Waiting to be noticed.
