The Break of Dawn
Last night
The snow descended in giant flakes like powder
Now the sunlight crawls through the thin laced curtains
Warming her olive toned skin The heavy off white comforter
Keeps her in a steady haze of dreams
The room once looked fragile
Pale and silver with the delicate moon light
But now it’s flushed
With the glow of the early morning sun
She still sleeps tenderly beside me
And as the sunlight’s orange tint
Dances across the smooth skin of her back
I don’t dare wake her
I only marvel at the beauty
Of the dawn
