tooth fairy
o say can you see by the moon's
tender kiss across the heartbeat bedroom
i wait with bated breath
hand clutched restless under my pillow
my country tis of this little
child, curled in blankets,
biting her nervous knuckles
i know she will come
she must come tonight
o beautiful for spacious skies for
eyes prodding themselves awake
for one minute, one second
longer
in this moment, nothing could matter
more in my minute life
than the hours slowly dissolving
through my fist
god bless america land that i believe
in everything green that cannot grow,
everything that swaddles me
too tightly
waiting for my bones
to turn to money
beneath my
head
