&ldquo;You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You&#039;re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who&#039;ll decide where to go...&rdquo; <br /> Dr. Seuss, &quot;Oh, the Places You&#039;ll Go!&quot;

Horrid thoughts swirl through my head,
disharmonic chords of chaotic chattering,
until it feels like I can bear no more
and feel my mind shattering

from a chaotic symphony of dark,
foreboding thoughts.
Why, if they don’t belong here,
are they in my head?
They whisper taboo thoughts,
plead me to destroy myself
and try to persuade me to self-destruction

and it’s all I can do to resist their urging,
begging and pleading.
It’s everything I can do to keep myself
from going over the edge,

but the symphony of chaos,
the disharmonic chords
and insane whisperings
keep trying to change my mind in
a long, gradual crescendo of insanity.

This is just something that I came to me. I've always thought insanity was a gradual process, similar to progression of a musical selection.
