Prove To Me
The words you whisper,
They taste so sweet-
Prove to me
That they have meaning
I have proof of the winds
As they carry me away,
And proof of your laughter
As it did the same
Prove to me
Your smile is true-
The smile I loved
When I thought I loved you
I have proof of the sun
on my rosy skin,
And proof of the flowers
As the lilac fragrance sinks in
Prove to me
I travel further than your thoughts,
To enter your life
That you fight to keep locked
I have proof of the scars
Carved from painful memories,
And proof of my heart
Beating unwished life
Through my vein’s red seas
Prove to me
that I meant something to you,
That time was not wasted
And what we had was true
I have proof of your absence
In my blood-shot eyes
And tears are proof enough
That your love was just a disguise
I have no proof of my smile
In photos of you,
I burned the pictures
And our memories, too
Love is lost
You have no proof
What I thought was love
Turned into you
And you proved me wrong
