Chasing
Chasing cars, but can’t ever seem to run quiet that fast
Chasing my dreams, but can’t seem to forget about the past
When everything turns around to bite you despite you giving it time
Desperate words heard like a whisper from those whose mouth chime
When starlight is nothing more than a dim back porch light
Where the light illuminates nothing more than insects of the night
What are we chasing a false hope, an insecurity or a lie
Chasing unwanted dreams away like the Catcher in the Rye
Constellations litter the phosphorescent night sky
Questions plague me, all but forgotten when on high
Tonight we’ve all but drunk to youth
Standing strong on an eye for eye and a tooth for a tooth
Chasing away the lonely nomadic inspirations of our dreams
Getting away with murder by devising a pyramid scheme
Chasing away phantoms that always darken our light
By holding on to nothing more than our will and our might
The princess’ hair just doesn’t ever hang quiet as low as it once did
Frankly, the thought of you wasting away scares the inner kid
When something stands in your way and push comes to shove
Is there anything in this world more powerful than that of love
When your guards down and something sweeps you off your feet
What we’re chasing leads to nothing more than a humble defeat
The chasing of something that may or may not lead to success
Has did nothing more than drain milk from Mother Nature’s breast
A pinpoint Doppler with a beacon signaling distress
Has left us chasing nothing but one beautiful mess
When sour turns bittersweet and our rivals turn the other cheek
Can what we chase in the end outrun those who strongly seek
A paradise, a utopia of peace and love
What we were chasing was always above
In the sky under the stars we would try to see
Reasons to believe what we were chasing was free
