Until the Morning Light
Pretend like there’s no world outside
Our bedroom door.
Pretend our house is our island,
Our tropical seclusion, our heaven.
When you hear our daughters giggle,
Think of your arms around me,
And how you will always be the only one
I’d want to keep us safe.
When I put our son’s in your arms,
Remember yourself and all your perfection,
So that they will grow
To be just like you.
Let’s swing together every day,
Watching our family grow,
And teaching them
How to love.
Let’s hold each other every night,
And make our memories.
Let’s always kiss the other goodnight
So our bodies may relax beside the other
Until the morning light.
