"Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Away in the darkness a single light shines.
The bat, plagued by blindness approaches.
Never on true light his soul dines,
Terrified of current reproaches.
Light sears and burns he knows all too well,
It seems pretty at first, meaningful, swell.
But upon touching and giving all that he had,
That bat was driven intolerably mad.
The light had shown on, oblivious of anger,
Innocently ignoring its delivery, banger.
Tattered and worn the bat tossed in the cave,
Drowning in water, dismal, and lame.
So when that feeeble light shown on once again,
And again the bat saw, he shuddered., but came.
For how can one not? The desire soo strong,
Grips all but the wise,
And them too far gone.
