For the Love of Dance
They say love is a sensation like none other.
One that sends heat coursing through your body,
One that brings sweat to the surface of your skin,
One that causes your knees to collapse from underneath you,
Even, a slightly nauseating experience.
It is a feeling that against all reason causes you to return again and again.
They say this feeling is like none other,
If this is so I have loved more deeply that I knew.
I have loved every day.
I have felt that pain giving, heat causing, sweat forming, nausea inducing, knee weakening love for ten years.
And even though I return home everyday, to ice my back and my shoulders and my toes, swearing my hatred for the thing,
I always seem to return the next day:
To practice until sweat is pouring off of me,
To jump until heat is coursing through my legs,
To turn until I begin to feel nauseous,
And to repeat until my knees begin to collapse, right out from underneath me.
And yet inexplicably I do love it, I love all of heat from the sweat to the heat to the nausea to the collapse.
I love it all.
