Chiseling Out a Crack or Two
I chiseled out a few more cracks
In my splintered heart
Who knew that any more damage
Could be done to my deteriorating soul
Maybe because that this time, it was different
It was I, who chipped away
At what is left of my disfigured heart
Who knew that self-mutilation
Could be so incredibly agonizing
Is it the knowledge of your unbearable choice?
That weighs so heavily upon your shoulders
Crushing down on your soul
With each passing day
Until one day when the load is finally lifted
And you no longer feel the pressure.
