Beautiful
Pleading
she stays in her knees
not knowing what will happen
if she tries
one last time
one last try
She wants him
bad
The way a photo
wants a subject
and a museum
wants a painting
She wants another chance
another try
with the boy
she shared a slow dance
with
the boy
she cries over
the boy
who will never know
that she lies
on the floor
fingers black
with mascara
face smeared with tears
mind full of frustration
sadness
and denial
as she mourns
for the love they once had
the days she wore his sweatshirt
and walked down the hall
no make up at all
and was told
she looked beautiful.
She misses
his smile
and his eyes that shine
brighter than any star
the boy who
knew about every scar
on the girls arms
And still loved her
She yearns
for those hugs at the end of
each day
she misses
saving every sweet message
that he would say
she felt whole
and complete
but her knees have grown weak
since the day
he decided she wasn't for him
and she sobbed
enough tears to fill a bucket
to the brim
nobody understood
why this hurt her so bad
she wished she listened to the girls
who told her
to run as fast as she can
the passion inside her
was gone.
And now she is pleading
on her weak knees
for the boy
who destroyed her
she still wants more
and nobody understands
why she can't move on
why the film is still playing
why she's still filled with sorrow
why every day
is the same every tomorrow
and prayers are said
in hopes for her sanity
and she could almost smile
at the bitter sweet journey
and now he is here
she doesn't know what to do
with the boy
who taught her
to wonder
laugh
and dream
and she sees
while she's been stuck in the past
everything has changed
she notices today
he texts her
and tells her everything is okay
that she's stronger than this
and will find her way.
Because no matter how much
she will claim
her love for him is through
no one
will smile at him
the way she used to
in the hall
on the way to class
no make up at all
and was told
she looked beautiful
